In 2023, we were in Recife, Brazil, making a feature-length documentary on Romero Britto. The film is now on iTunes and Amazon—a testament to one man's journey from poverty to global icon.

But the real story began in the favelas, with Leonardo.

Leonardo was Romero's childhood best friend. He took us to the diplomat's house where young Romero—a kid from the slums—would spend afternoons dreaming of a different life. We were filming outside that house when a stranger approached.

"What are you doing?"

We told him.

"I know somebody. I know somebody who knows Romero's family."

Three conversations later, we were sitting in a coffee shop with Marcel. His father had believed in a young door-to-door artist named "Brito" in 1985—back when no one else would. He bought paintings. He kept them. He passed them to his son.

Marcel had one dream: a farm for his family.

We had one question: "What if we could help you sell these, so you could finally have it?"

These seven paintings—signed "BRITO," created before fame, before America, before the world knew his name—are the result of that conversation. The oldest known Brittos in existence. Authenticated. Documented. Impossible to replicate.
